First, I have to thank Tito's Handmade Vodka for sponsoring this event. They came to theCHIVE offices and asked us where we wanted to go. We immediately responded, "Seattle, before the weather gets super shitty."

Thanks to all the Chivers for coming out to play. It turned out to be one of the best times we've ever had. The Emerald City came to party, man. I made some good friends that night and we'll be back for more soon.

Thanks to Garage Billiards for being generally awesome. Any bar that has a fucking bowling alley in it is already awesome, but the staff there were amazing that night from what I remember.

And thanks again to the Belltown Pub for hosting the after party. I can't imagine what it looks like to see hundreds of wildly intoxicated Chivers steamrolling your bar at 1am looks like, but you handled yourself with poise and grace. I highly recommend the chicken wings.

I'm done thanking people now. No thanks especially to Mac, who was not invited and showed up anyway. His ability to elude security is legendary.

There are dogs... and there are dogs with fancy dress outfits.

And there are dogs with fancy dress outfits... and there's Echo.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, meet Echo the Boston Terrier - who began her "costume frenzy" (her owner's words, not ours) back when she lived in Savannah, Georgia.

"We had no idea what it would turn into," says Kristin Kittle, Echo's owner/stylist/costume designer. "Each year, we spend a few months brainstorming ideas, researching fabric, props, etc, and then decide on her costume." (We assume that by "we", Ms Kittle means her family, not her and Echo.)

"The process of creating it is trial and error," she continues. "I begin by taking basic measurements, drawing out a pattern and cutting the basic bodice of the costume, depending on the overall look we are going for. Then it's a series of trying on, re-pinning, and so on.

"When the final product is fully tweaked to allow her optimal movement and comfort, we focus on her 'set'. The costume is a huge part, but what really sells the idea is the context of the picture."

WHAT. A. WEEK.

The Pope joined Twitter, a royal foetus joined the world, Starbucks joined the rest of us who pay taxes, and Max Clifford joined the ranks of other British men over 50 and involved in showbiz who have recently been trending on Twitter.

And in the midst of all that, the software-icon-turned-fugitive (yes, another one!) John McAfee was caught, George Osborne released his autumn statement, and we all started opening our advent calendars. Like we say: what a week.
